Oi Mãe,
Happy Wedding Anniversary!
The transfer went well. I saw Elder Do Carmo at the
transfer, as he hadn't left for the airport. Our ward starts at 9am with the
classes first. The ward Granja Viana, starts at 9:30 with Sacrament meeting
first. So, during the transition we, Geraldine Maia Contadini, were able to talk
a little.
Elder Brown is from Safford, Arizona with one year and six
months of mission time. This is his third transfer in the area.
Cotia 1 had 2 duplas, A and B. Who were Elder Brown and
Elder Bedoya, and Elder Carvalho and Elder Babcock. When Elder Babcock went to
home to attend college, Elder Carvalho stayed in a trio. Elder Bedoya and Elder
Carvalho were transferred when I arrived. After the transfer, the entire ward's
area became ours. We live on Rua Manoel Lages do Chão, in an apartment called
Cotia Park, 721 block 2 ap. 33.
I forgot to bring my camera to church on Sunday, so the
photos will have to wait until next week.
We take the bus almost every day now. It's usually a small
bus in which we negotiate the price, from our house KM 31 of the highway
Raposo, to KM 29 our chapel for R$2 per person, instead of R$4 the normal price
of Cotia Municipal.
How it works with the new President of the Church. It is the
Senior Apostle, or the apostle who has the most time of service. Meaning the
Russel M Nelson is our Prophet. He will just need to be sustained in the next
General Conference, to be recognized as the President of the Church.
I'll be transferring the money for the scripture covers this
week. This past week was ruthless on my legs, as we were running for place to
place.
On Friday, walking down a dirt road, Estrada dos
Edificadores, we took a wrong turn and ended up being surrounded by a gang of
dogs. We were able to tensely walk our way out of the situation, and continue
on our way. I now have a fear of dogs that are acting aggressively.
On Tuesday, The Church will have a transmission at 2pm to
see the new prophet be called. You can listen on lds.org.
I Love You!!!!!!!!!!

Oi Mãe,
Elder Silvério is just another missionary in the mission. I
believe the story is that the doctors before the mission weren´t sure if he
could handle the mission. So, he came to serve a mission, skipping the CTM, to
see if his body can take it. After his time in the field, he´s proven that he
can handle the work, so he´ll be trained in the CTM then return to the mission.
Yes, Elder Brown is my companion and will be until at least
2\20\2018 which is the beginning of my last six weeks.
The photo of a building with the red lift gate will be the
new São Paulo LDS Visitation Center. The gate is of the "Portaria" of
the Area Building\Chapel\Temple. There is a subway station being built next
door to this visitor’s center.
If you could get a photo of the missionary's new car, I will
be grateful.
Returning from the Multi-zone conference, we got a ride from
President Thomas to the Rodavia Raposo Tavares (in future referencing, I will
use "The Raposo").
Last night, running late while returning home, we went to a
bus stop on the Raposo (KM 33) and waited... We continued anxiously waiting and
praying that a bus will appear, but nothing. We climbed the stairs to the road
above us in search of a taxi, but we found an evangelic church that had just
ended. We asked them if they can call an Uber for us. One of them showed us
that he is an Uber driver. He took us home to our house for R$15. We got home
at 10pm, 30 minutes late. But it was an answer to our prayers, we just had to
put our faith in action and look for our ride.
Elder Orr and Sister Brown, are from the same city and we to
the same high school. I think it is common to have this happen.
We had an amazing week with 8 investigators in church. 4 of
which are foreigners for Haiti. And a family whose mom didn’t feel comfortable
driving their SUV, but used her faith and came to church.
These were the highlights of the week.
I Love You!
